Code Enforcement Officer

The Town Code Enforcement Officer's primary role is to handle building permits and enforcement of and/or questions relating to the New York State Building Code.

The Officer is also responsible for enforcing all local zoning and land use regulations.

The Code Enforcement Officer:

• Assists residents in obtaining building permits.
• Processes applications for Planning and Zoning Board.
• Provides Flood Plain information as well as issue Federal Flood Plain permits if necessary.
• Meets with prospective developers.
• Provides information regarding required setbacks and zoning issues.
• Provides rules and regulations of New York State Building Code.
• Enforces Fire and Property Maintenance regulations per the New York State Building Code.

The Code Enforcement Officer Does NOT:

• Answer questions about Tax information.
• Answer questions about Town Court issues.
• Answer questions pertaining to Town Highway Department.

Property Identification

NYS Code requires House numbering as follows:

• Buildings shall have approved address numbers

• Numbers must be placed in a position where they are legible and visable from the street or road fronting the property

• Numbers shall contrast with background

• Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or Alphabetic letters

• Numbers must be a minimum of 4 inches high, with a minimum stroke width of 1/2 inch

Please stop in or call the Code Enforcement Office for any other applications for the Town and Village,such as:  

               Building - long forms.  Used for new homes or major remodeling/renovations.

               All Planning applications - Site plan, Special use permit, and Subdivisions.

               All Zoning applications - Area and Use Variances.
